CLUB HISTORY
Strathaven Dynamo 1968 - 2010 (30/03/10)

The club was formed in 1968 by Rangers and Scotland legend, Eric Caldow, and John Whitelaw. The club took its Dynamo name from the slightly more famous Dynamo team from Moscow.
The club has been at the heart of community football throughout our forty years and as the town has expanded so has our club.
Today one in 3 local boys of school age play with the Dynamos, and our Girls section is still in its infancy, but we hope adequate facilities will finally allow us to create several more girls teams.
Our volunteers, committee members and past Chairman have all made a fantastic contribution to our club growth and today our recognition by the SFA in May 2008 as a Community level Quality Mark Club is our proudest achievement.
There have been a few trophies along the way over the years, and our current crop of playiers are all making a bigger impact in grassroots football, and we have several local boys now breaking into pro-youth on an annual basis.
We are proud to have local hero, Bertie Auld as our Club Ambassador and Bertie plays an active part in the development of our club.
Our biggest challenge is to fund a full size 3G pitch at Kirkland Park and we are encouraged by local support. We await planning permission. This is a fully costed, affordable and fantastic investment in our young people and our community. We hope our co-funding partners and of course our local council see fit to give the young people of Strathaven, now and in the future, this opportunity to train in appropriate facilities and allow our participation levels at the club to flourish.
